How to enter

Can we enter the festival?

The Bristol One Act Drama Festival is open to all drama groups, clubs, schools and universities.

It is a first round competition for the National All England Theatre Festival, and although the Festival is open to all, in order to qualify to proceed in the All England Theatre Festival you must be a group of Non-Professionals and derive no income from professional performance.

What Can we Enter?

As our name suggests, you must enter a one-act play. However, the festival does not just accept published plays; you may also enter un-published works, new plays, devised and improvised pieces as long as they meet the following criteria:

  • - Be one act in length

  • - The play's running time must be between 20 - 55 minutes.

  • - There must be at least two speaking roles in the piece

The Bristol One Act Drama Festival politely request that all entrants familiarise themselves with the Festival Rules

and the Festival Technical Notes prior to submitting an entry.

Attention is also drawn to the Safeguarding Guidelines (Child Protection)
